The picturesque village of Varshilo is located on the territory of Strandzha Nature Park, 41 km from Burgas, and 32 km from Sozopol and Primorsko, 31 km from Chernomorets. By 1934 its name was Kar Harman and by 1951 - Harman. Varshilo has preserved the Bulgarian traditions and being located on the Strandzha hill of Karaysak, it is one of the pristine places in the area. Not far from the dynamic and modern resorts, the village attracts with its natural beauty and remoteness from the modern world. In the centre of Varshilo there is a church, built by the inhabitants themselves, who are devout and attend liturgy every Sunday. The village pub is at the square, too. It is a popular gathering place during the day and nearby there is a souvenir shop offering carvings, leather and memory cards. People are very hospitable and feast their guests with banitsa, zelnik, stuffed cabbage or Varshilo pechenka and they love telling stories while eating. The following sites are near Varshilo: the protected area of Tyasna Reka, the lake Indzhee Voivode, the Skakla Waterfall and the Dara Dere River with its beautiful pool of Kumben and together with the green valleys around it makes this place amazing. The area is ideal for walks and picnics, hiking, fishing, rural and ecotourism. There are picnic pavilions in the green area before the village, as well as fountains in the forest that are visited by shepherds and tourists. There are also various entertainments, such as relaxation lounges in the yard, hiking, hunting game and fishing in the river, bird watching and the mountain is suitable for orienteering with a map, a compass and a radio along unmarked trails. The guests may visit Varshilo's Chapel St. Constantine and Elena or watch the fire dancing that has become an attraction. The Koledari and Mummers are traditional for Varshilo and on the day of St. Mary there is a fair and the square gathers everybody together in the big traditional dance of 'horo', led by the mayor.
