Malyovitsa mountain resort is located 40 km from Borovets and 27 km from Samokov in the Rila Mountain. The resort and the mounts rising above it are a favourite place for the lovers of rock climbing and hiking and tourism because of the inaccessible slopes. In the area of Malyovitsa there are traced routes for climbers, as the most visited sites are Kuklata, Chernata Skala, and the north-eastern wall of Malyovitsa is the hardest one to climb so far in Bulgaria. This route starts from the Maliovitsa Hut and it is a 2-hour trail. Other routes lead to Dvuglav Mount from the shelter of Orlovets and Partizanska Polyana; Iglata Mount, Zliyat Zab Mount, Orlovets Mount, Dyavolskite Igli and Ushite. There are three ski runs for the lovers of winter sports in the region: Ruzhdavitsa, Yulen and Mecha Polyana, two ski lifts for children and three lifts for adults, ski wardrobe and a lot of dining and recreation sites. The longest run is Yulen - 1200 m and its highest part has the highest degree of difficulty. Ruzhdavitsa is 900 m long and it is connected via a lift with Mecha Polyana, as the latter one is for beginners. Many hiking trails in the mountains start from Malyovitsa. Nearby there is one of the most beautiful lakes in Rila - Strashnoto Ezero, situated at the foot of the Small and Medium Kupen that hang over the lake with its sharp edges and the crash of thunder during storms give harshness and majesty to the lake. Maliovishki Lakes are three terraced ponds in the area of Malyovo Pole and they are stocked with rainbow trout to the delight of anglers, and different routes lead to them. Other sites for hiking are Ivan Vazov Hut, the hut of Ribni Ezera, Orlovets Shelter which is the starting point for mountaineers to climb the walls of mounts Orlovets, Zliya Zab, Dvuglav, Iglata and Dyavolski Igli. The neighbouring mounts of Lovnitsa and Kamilata can be climbed by tourists. Other interesting sites to visit in the region are the Rila Monastery, Rila Lakes and it should be borne in mind that there is a winter and a summer route, because of the danger of avalanches in winter.
